Roy Smith - 50 Years of Autotesting |

It is an enormous pleasure to be able to highlight the fact that 2008 is the 50th anniversary of Roy enjoying the fun and competition of Autotests.
Roy can go back to the time when driving tests were just the finale or tie decider to a challenging road rally. Aided and abetted by a certain Miss Joyce Orriss they produced some remarkable results with the Austin A35 that they still own.
As driving tests moved to the more sophisticated Autotests, so Roy has kept pace with the latest techniques. Aided and abetted by son Simon, they have campaigned the Mini Special to huge effect. Roy, not surprisingly, has great pride in recalling Simon winning a M.S.A. British Championship round at the age of 18. Dad obviously taught him well...or should that be too well!!
Roy continues to be a tireless worker in organising Autotests, but then with his skill at the helm of the Felixstowe Autotest, as Clerk of the Course, he has a great deal of experience to fall back on. Winning the BTRDA Flather Shield for the best Autotest in the country (the World?) shows the quality you get from an event run by Roy.
